Quantity Surveyor

Location: Dewsbury

Salary: £48,000 - £50,000, plus package including

- Car allowance,

Summary

A specialist civil engineering contractor working on specialist, highway authorities and railway projects is looking for a passionate, experienced, degree-qualified or 'time served' Quantity Surveyor to join their National Commercial Team based at their depot in Dewsbury.

The Role

You will play a crucial role in the business, identifying and managing risks to ensure the best possible outcome for clients. You will be accountable for the commercial and cost management of contracts, negotiating and agreeing contracts and costs, limiting variations, and ensuring monthly valuation and invoicing is on point.

You will also have the chance to explore new revenue channels and evaluate opportunities to help the company develop its offering sustainably and within the parameters of our procurement procedures, securing our future for the hundreds of people we employ across the country.

You will work collaboratively with the rest of the Commercial Team and with our Operational Team to find the most sustainable and efficient data-led solutions possible. You will be required to use communication and persuasive negotiation skills to maintain optimal relationships with our clients and supply chain partners.

Responsibilities

1. Control, monitor, and report on commercial performance across Contracts.
2. Manage commercial risk on schemes making detailed forecasts and adequate provisions when reporting monthly.
3. Manage the client and ensure an excellent working relationship is held.
4. Monitor and control the change management systems on contracts ensuring all notifications are issued on time and implementations are received and filed under the NEC timescales.
5. Onboarding of Sub subcontractors/suppliers as well as sub subcontractor accounts, interim payments, notices, final accounts, etc.
6. Prepare and agree monthly payment applications.
7. Monitor payments to ensure we get paid on time.
8. Administering and/or advising on Main Contract and Subcontract conditions.
9. Liaise with the local team to deliver the best commercially led operational solution in accordance with the tender and Client budget.
10. Estimating of future works.
11. Attending project progress meetings with clients and Project Managers.

Seeking candidates with;

1. A Degree in a relevant subject or extensive experience.
2. Strong reporting and contract administration skills.
3. A valid UK Driving License.
4. Strong NEC experience (UK-based).
5. Proficient in managing multiple, large, complex packages.
6. Excellent cost control abilities.
7. Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
8. Experience in CEMAR (ideal but not essential).
9. Commercial risk management.
