A little more about your role

As an Associate / Associate Director, you will provide technical leadership to our design and assessment teams, leveraging your knowledge and skills to deliver quality work on time and within budget. You will lead design teams, mentor junior members, and support project delivery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical leadership for bridge/civil engineering design and assessment projects in the UK and overseas
  • Conducting project reviews to optimize solutions and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs
  • Managing resources and developing relationships with other teams
  • Agreeing on fees and managing project finances
  • Fostering a culture of technical review and challenge
  • Developing client relationships and leading tenders/bids
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members

About the team and locations

Our Civil and Bridge Engineering team in the South West & Wales, with offices in Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, and Truro, comprises over 120 engineers, technicians, and project managers. We work on diverse projects across rail and highways sectors for clients like HS2, Network Rail, and others. Our team offers broad experience and a culture of learning and development, providing excellent opportunities to grow your skills.

Candidate requirements

We anticipate you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with experience including:

  • Bridge design, maintenance, and assessment experience from construction sites and design offices
  • Project management of bridge projects
  • Proven expertise in design, maintenance, and supervision of structural projects, including new builds, assessments, and strengthening
  • Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW standards related to structural schemes
  • Understanding and application of Eurocodes in bridge design
  • Experience with steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete bridges
  • Familiarity with analysis software like LUSAS, Superstress, and SAM
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to new challenges, and committed to team development
