Job description

About the role:
This exciting role involves working as part of the thermal hydrolysis process team, a crucial component of the site’s daily operations, essential for maximizing green power generation using THP, CHP, and Boiler plant on site.
Day-to-day duties include:

  • Gathering samples and conducting laboratory analysis.
  • Performing visual inspections of key areas and inline monitor checking/calibrating.
  • Monitoring, interpreting, collating, and reporting analysis data to ensure correct process operation and compliance with statutory and regulatory Thames Water requirements.
  • Operating plant and equipment to ensure continuous operation of THP and related plants to maximize power output.
  • Managing deliveries.
  • Carrying out safety, security, and housekeeping checks.
  • Taking personal responsibility for health and safety of oneself and colleagues.

Skills and experience required:
Ideal candidates will have prior experience in sewage treatment processes or similar process-oriented roles.

  • Knowledge of process industry equipment such as pumps, centrifuges, and boilers, with an understanding of combustion, steam generation, and heat transfer, is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
  • At least 2 years of process operation experience.
  • City and Guilds Level 2/3 qualification in mechanical, electrical, or chemical disciplines.
  • SCADA experience is beneficial; full training will be provided (BOAS, permit to work, forklift, chemical delivery, working at height, overhead crane, operation shadowing).
  • Physical fitness is required due to the nature of the role involving lifting.
  • Proficiency in email and Excel.
  • Must hold a full UK driving license.

  • Salary between £26,800 and £40,200, depending on experience.
