Job description

Workshop Assistant (Part-Time, Permanent)

The School of Technical, Construction and Motor Vehicle at Carshalton College is seeking a Workshop Assistant to provide technician support in Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Carrying out maintenance of workshops and equipment for Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles.
  2. Maintaining stock levels and inventory of equipment and materials.
  3. Assisting in stock control and managing deliveries of equipment and consumables.
  4. Supporting academic and technician staff in stores and workshops.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Specialised experience in Motor Vehicle and/or Motorcycle or relevant trade areas.
  • Vocational or trade qualifications (at least Level 2 NVQ) in Motor Vehicle and/or Motorcycle.
  • Experience providing technician support in a similar environment.

Skills:

  • Ability to set up, monitor, and maintain administrative systems.
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety and Welfare legislation.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure, organise, and prioritise.

The successful candidate will be eligible for salary increases following the annual cost of living review in the new academic year.
