Job summary

Lenzing AG in Grimsby, UK, seeks an experienced E&I Technician to support the Electrical Engineering team. You will perform day-to-day maintenance, optimise plant OEE, and ensure safe production of fibre.

Responsibilities include following SWPs and permit-to-work, recording equipment condition in SAP, and assisting with root cause analysis and improvements. You will work closely with senior engineers and maintenance teams to enhance availability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Time-served E&I Technician with an understanding of process plant operations.
• Numerate and computer literate with SAP knowledge.
• Able to work with permit-to-work systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain day-to-day E&I maintenance to maximise plant OEE and safe production.
• Follow Safe Working Procedures (SWPs), permits to work and risk assessments.
• Record and communicate equipment condition using SAP.
• Scope, identify and procure materials for maintenance tasks.
• Supervise contractors during planned maintenance outages and ensure safety and standards.
• Contribute to root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain housekeeping, hygiene and quality at all times.

Purpose & key responsibilities of the role

We are looking to appoint a full‑time E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) Technician as part of the Electrical Engineering team on a full-time basis. This job holder is responsible for the day-to-day E&I maintenance activities with prime focus of optimising plant OEE to maximise the safe production of fibre.

You will work safely at all times by following written Safe Working Procedures (SWPs), Permits to Work, and Self-Assessed Risk Assessments. You will actively support the site SHE strategy by identifying, reporting, and addressing observations and incidents.

You will maintain plant and equipment within agreed timescales, minimizing the impact on production output and product quality while delivering against departmental KPIs with minimal supervision. You will accurately record and communicate equipment condition following breakdowns and during maintenance activities using SAP.

You will scope, identify, and procure materials required to complete maintenance and engineering tasks, while specifying suitable alternatives when necessary.

You will provide a practical engineering interface between senior engineers, the maintenance team, and process teams to ensure engineering work is completed effectively and efficiently.

You will identify and support the implementation of engineering solutions that improve plant availability, reliability, and cost efficiency. You will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of safety and maintenance procedures and systems.

You will participate in and contribute to root cause analysis investigations to understand equipment failures and help prevent recurrence.

You will work with and supervise contractors during planned maintenance outages, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards.

You will maintain the highest standards of plant housekeeping, hygiene, and quality at all times.

Our expectations for this exciting role

You are a time-served and experienced E&I Technician with a thorough understanding of process plant operations and machinery.

You are numerate, computer literate, and possess working knowledge of SAP.

You are an effective communicator who can work successfully both independently and as part of a team.

You have an excellent understanding of electrical standards and safe working procedures.

You demonstrate strong health and safety awareness and have experience working with permit-to-work systems.

You hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline.

You are flexible, adaptable, and willing to embrace new practices and ways of working.

You are self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working unsupervised.
