Job summary

Lorien in Trafford, Manchester is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead and develop its engineering team in a fast-paced e-commerce environment. This hands-on leadership role combines people management, technical direction, and delivery ownership as the business scales.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years in engineering team leadership.
• Strong Node.js and backend experience.
• Experience building REST/GraphQL APIs and integrating third-party systems.
• Knowledge of serverless architectures (AWS Lambda).
• Proficiency with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or BigQuery.
• Experience in retail/e-commerce or high-traffic environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.
• Own the engineering roadmap and delivery of key projects.
• Drive Agile processes and manage development priorities.
• Provide technical leadership across APIs, integrations, and backend services.
