Job summary

Red Bull Powertrains is seeking a hands-on engineer to join our powertrain testing team in the UK. In this 12-month FTC, you’ll install units on advanced test beds, log data, and ensure accuracy and efficiency of test programs on a rotating shift.

The role emphasizes practical skills across instrumentation, electronics, hydraulics, and fault identification in a high-performance motorsport environment. You’ll work with world-class facilities and be part of a collaboration-driven team that values

Qualifications

• An apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification or higher in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering and relevant technical experience.
• Strong knowledge of operating modern automated test equipment.
• High understanding of motor vehicle technology and F1 Powertrain architecture.
• Familiarity with Power Units, basic electronics and hydraulics in motorsport.
• Experience with test cell instrumentation and external measurement devices.
• Strong practical skills with good manual dexterity.
• Experience on engine/powertrain test beds in a top-class racing environment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Install Unit Under Test on advanced test beds.
• Responsible for instrumentation and data logging of the UUTs.
• Ensure test programs are completed with accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify faults within the dyno area and work on resolutions.
• First line analysis and interpretation of test results, reporting issues.
• Identify inefficiencies and deliver improvements.
• Operate facility and test equipment per procedures.

Working within a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment, you’ll be hands-on with advanced test systems, automation tools, and the latest testing methodologies — helping to extract maximum performance and reliability from our power units.

This is a 12 month FTC role, working a Monday-Friday shift rotating between earlies and lates (6:00–14:30 & 14:00–22:30)

What you’ll be doing:

• Install Unit Under Test (UUT’s) on advanced test beds of varying types
• Responsible for instrumentation and data logging of the UUT’s
• Ensuring test programs are completed with high attention to accuracy and efficiency
• Identifying faults within the dyno area and pro-actively work on the resolution
• First line analysis and interpretation of test results, including fault identification of the UUT’s and /or test rigs, reporting issues appropriately
• Identify inefficiencies in current process and deliver improvements
• Operating facility and test equipment in line with work instructions and pre-determined procedures
• Maintain test dyno run logs to monitor test bed efficiency

What we’re looking for:

• An apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification or higher in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering and relevant technical experience
• Strong knowledge of operating modern automated test equipment
• High understanding of motor vehicle technology and knowledge of F1 Powertrain architecture
• Familiarity with Power Units, basic electronics and hydraulics systems ideally within a motorsport environment.
• Experience of using test cell instrumentation and external measurement devices
• Strong practical skills with good manual dexterity
• Previous experience using engine and/or powertrain test beds in a top-class racing environment will be very beneficial to this role
