Job summary

The Perse School, Cambridge is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join the Pelican Team for a Year 2 class, with potential to support across Early Years and Key Stage 1. The TA will work closely with the class teacher, support individual pupils and small groups, and help with playground and lunch duties.

There are additional responsibilities including running out-of-hours clubs and occasional teaching cover when staff are absent. Start January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Provide particular support for pupils, including those with special learning needs.
• Support the children’s wellbeing and educational progress.
• Develop the children’s emotional security, self-belief and social skills.
• Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities.
• Prepare resources for lessons as required.
• Support pupils assigned to you and liaise with teaching staff about pupils’ understanding and progress.
• Create stimulating, interactive displays.
• Ensure that all school resources are maintained in good order
