Remedy Education is currently recruiting for a strong, experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEN school based in Wandsworth, South West London. The school supports secondary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, communication needs and SEMH needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is essential.
• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils is highly desirable.
• Confident supporting students with ASD, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Patient, resilient, reliable and able to use initiative.
• Comfortable providing 1:1 support and working with small groups.
• Team Teach, MAPA or other positive handling training would be advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students with SEN.
• Support pupils with ASD, learning difficulties and additional communication needs.
• Assist teachers with delivering adapted lessons and classroom activities.
• Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
• Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies when required.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Help maintain a structured, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
• Assist with personal care where required.
