Job summary

Forest Hill School in south-east London is seeking a motivated P.E. & Cover Supervisor to join the cover team. The role includes supervising classes during short-term absences and overseeing PE lessons, on-site and at Elm Lane, following lesson plans and safety procedures.

You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, with GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above. Strong communication, the ability to work independently and a commitment to safeguarding are essential.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience; GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
• Experience of working with young people and ability to relate to students from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of the Cover Supervisor role and that lessons/resources are set by teachers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to give clear instructions and build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during short-term absence, ensuring work set by teachers is completed.
• Explain and oversee pre-prepared work; monitor completion and provide feedback.
• Manage student behaviour in line with school policy; maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support inclusion and engagement of all students, including SEND and EAL.
• Supervise PE lessons and activities on-site and at Elm Lane; follow plans and risk assessments.
• Promote participation, teamwork and high standards of conduct; assist with tutor cover and invigilations.
