Job summary

Mercian Educational Trust is seeking a qualified primary teacher to lead KS1/KS2 classes, delivering high-quality lessons and upholding the school’s ethos. You will support staff, maintain pupil welfare, and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role requires QTS, degree-level qualification, and commitment to safeguarding. You will work with a phase team and contribute to school improvement through CPD and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Degree and QTS are required for the role.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the aims and ethos of the school and support Headteacher in promoting the school’s ethos.
  • Follow the Teachers’ Standards and the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
  • Plan and prepare lessons to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage and the school’s schemes of work.
  • Identify clear objectives and learning outcomes with appropriate challenges.
  • Differentiate groups or individuals to reflect abilities and ensure inclusive teaching.
  • Plan opportunities to develop social, cultural and emotional aspects of pupils’ learning.
  • Maintain records of pupil progress and communicate with parents.
  • Work with a phase team and supervise support staff and parent helpers.
  • Engage in professional development and review curriculum collaboratively.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
