Job summary

Goffs Academy is seeking a passionate History Teacher to join our dynamic team. You will inspire students across KS3 to KS5, delivering high-quality teaching and fostering a love for History within our school ethos.

The role requires QTS and a History degree, with proven ability to teach and assess, and to use data for planning. Salary is MPS/UPS; closing date 17 July 2026. This post offers a supportive environment and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• QTS and a History-related degree are essential.
• Experience teaching History to KS3–KS5 with strong outcomes or strong observations for early career teachers.
• Excellent knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
• Strong organisational skills, time management and the ability to use data for lesson planning.
• Proficiency in ICT to support teaching and learning.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Personal qualities of integrity and fairness under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured History lessons to KS3–KS5.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress with constructive feedback.
• Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations.
• Manage classroom behaviour to create a safe learning environment.
• Participate in extracurricular activities and school events.
• Undertake pastoral duties as form tutor and support students.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and external professionals.
• Contribute to school policies and practices.
• Engage in professional development and observations to improve teaching.
