Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teacher of French and German for a well-regarded Durham-area secondary school. The role covers KS3/KS4 with potential KS5; you will deliver engaging lessons, assess progress, and support cultural activities within a supportive MFL team.

The position starts in January, is full-time and permanent, and requires QTS or equivalent credentials plus a degree in Modern Languages. DBS Update Service preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering GCSE French and German outcomes across Foundation and Higher tiers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and German.
• Must have an active DBS check on Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Teach interactive French and German across Key Stage 3 and 4 (GCSE).
• Guide GCSE candidates through oral exams, grammar, translations, and listening papers.
• Utilise language lab tech and authentic digital resources for immersion.
• Assess and report on student progress across mock exams and vocab tests.
• Support extra-curricular language initiatives, including debate clubs and cultural days.
• Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor to support wellbeing and progress.
