Job summary

Unsted Park School & Sixth Form, a residential and day SEN school for autistic learners aged 7–19, seeks an outstanding English Teacher to join the KS3–KS5 team in Godalming. The role focuses on English across KS3–KS5 with potential to cover GCSE and A‑Level English, including literacy support and phonics where needed.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or above.
• Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high‑quality English lessons in line with the National Curriculum for KS3–KS5.
• Adapt teaching to support a wide range of abilities, including students working below age‑related expectations.
• Demonstrate an understanding of phonics, literacy intervention, and foundational learning where required.
• Assess, record, and report on student progress, ensuring personalised and meaningful feedback.
• Create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment.
• Differentiate effectively to meet diverse learning needs, including SEN.
• Manage classroom behaviour positively, promoting independence, respect, and self‑regulation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
• Contribute to departmental development, staff meetings, CPD, and wider school life.
• Uphold safeguarding practices and contribute positively to the school ethos.
