Job summary

The Blandford School is an 11–18 comprehensive school in Dorset seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to cover maternity leave on a full-time basis, January 2027 start. The role offers opportunities to teach across secondary key stages with established schemes and resources, within a supportive English department.

We welcome both experienced teachers and those at the start of their careers, and there may be potential for a permanent position in the future depending on staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
• Can teach English effectively across a range of secondary key stages.
• Has a genuine enthusiasm for English and can share that enthusiasm with young people.
• Has high expectations for every student, regardless of their starting point.

Responsibilities

• Teach English across the secondary key stages using established schemes of learning and high-quality resources.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, ideas and expertise within the English department.
• Contribute to a positive and ambitious school community and ongoing department development.
