Consultants in Wales earn between £91,722 and £119,079 per year (2024 figures), with additional remuneration in commitment awards when eligible. A recruitment incentive is available for new Consultants in Wales, and a relocation package of up to £10,000 may be offered, subject to terms.

Job overview

We seek a full-time Consultant in Respiratory Medicine, with a specialist interest in Sleep + NIV, to join our respiratory team. Services are centralized at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, with outpatient services at Singleton and Port Talbot Hospitals, supported by Respiratory Physiology and Radiology. The team provides comprehensive Respiratory care.

The successful candidate will join 8 Respiratory Consultants, contributing to inpatient care, the respiratory retrieval rota, and GIM on-call duties.

Main duties

Our multidisciplinary team includes Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Physiotherapists, Pulmonary Physiologists, Thoracic Radiologists, and Surgeons. The team includes trainees, clinical fellows, foundation trainees, and Physician Associates. We focus on patient-centered care, with opportunities for research and training, and strong links to Swansea Medical School. A Welcome Payment and relocation expenses are available.

The candidate will lead the sleep service, supported by physiologists and a multidisciplinary team, with existing consultants managing NIV patients and a dedicated CNS team. An acute NIV bay is available for daily management.
