DV Cleared Java Software Engineer

Location: Cheltenham
Salary: Up to £100,000 D.O.E
Clearance: Active Developed Vetting (DV West only) required

Are you a DV-cleared Java engineer?
We're looking for a skilled Software Engineer with strong Java, AWS, and Microservices experience to join a defence-based tech consultancy.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Building scalable, secure microservices in Java (Java 11+)

• Designing and deploying infrastructure in AWS

• Contributing to architecture discussions and secure-by-design approaches

• Collaborating within an Agile team alongside DevOps engineers and architects

• Working in a classified environment where real-world impact matters

Tech Stack:

• Java 11+, Spring Boot

• AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, etc.)

• Docker/Kubernetes

• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI)

• Kafka/REST APIs/OAuth2

What You'll Need:

• Active DV (Developed Vetting) West clearance - must be current and in-date

• Proven experience in Java-based software engineering roles

• Hands-on AWS experience (certifications welcome but not essential)

• Strong grasp of microservices architecture and best practices

• Solid understanding of security principles and secure coding standards

Bonus Points for:

• Exposure to MOD, GCHQ, or similar secure government environments

• Experience with container orchestration (K8s, OpenShift)

• Test-driven development or automated testing frameworks
