Job summary

LA International Computer Consultants Ltd in Basingstoke is seeking a Project Management Associate for a DV-cleared contractor role. You will support the Project Manager in day-to-day management, develop and maintain plans, schedules, and milestones, and coordinate activities to keep actions on track.

The role requires experience in Defence or National Security projects, familiarity with Prince2/Agile/Safe, and ability to manage risks, finances, and governance.

Qualifications

• Experience managing projects in the Defence & National Security sector.
• Familiar with Prince2, Agile, Safe.
• Experience coordinating requirements with the Project Board or equivalent governance body.
• Delivered projects through full lifecycle including ICT infrastructure, application development, testing and release.
• Experience with governance, audits, and evidence-based delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in day-to-day management of assigned projects/workstreams.
• Assist with development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, milestones.
• Coordinate project activities and ensure actions are tracked and completed on time.
• Support delivery of outputs within time, cost, and quality constraints.
• Prepare and update regular project reports, dashboards, and status updates.
• Support RAID management with accurate logs and up-to-date information.
• Assist with change control activities in line with governance processes.
• Support audit and assurance activities with traceable evidence and artefacts.
• Liaise with delivery teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders for timely information flow.
• Assist with project financial tracking, including cost reporting and forecasting.
• Support contract and supplier administration where applicable.
• Ensure financial data is reflected in project systems and reports.

Your role will involve
With your rich experience in managing projects - preferably within the Defence & National Security sector you know how to stand your ground dealing with complex environments and challenging stakeholders. You have a great way of bringing people and responsibilities together and are fully aware of the impact of these projects on the clients organisation. You will ensure that your financial management is in order, your scope management is adequate and all stakeholders as well as project related risks are also managed effectively by you.

Your role will involve:

• Support the Project Manager in the day‑to‑day management of assigned projects or workstreams.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and milestones.
• Coordinate project activities, ensuring actions are tracked and completed on time.
• Support delivery of agreed outputs within time, cost, and quality constraints.
• Prepare and update regular project reports, dashboards, and status updates.
• Support RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management, ensuring logs are accurate and up to date.
• Assist with change control activities, ensuring changes are recorded, assessed, and approved in line with governance processes.
• Support audit and assurance activities by ensuring evidence and artefacts are complete and traceable
• Liaise with delivery teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support timely information flow.
• Assist with project financial tracking, including cost reporting and forecasting

Key skills and experience:

• Technical oversight: Provide technical guidance and ensure the project aligns with technical requirements, often collaborating with tech leads and IT departments.
• Delivered various types of projects through the full project lifecycle. Specifically, ICT infrastructure, application development, test and release
• Familiar with different methodologies. I.e. Prince2, Agile, Safe.
• Managed the agreement process of the project requirements and objectives with the Project Board or appointed project assurance role.
• Managed the delivery of projects in partnership with the customer and business line to ensure acceptance, closedown, and handover to service.
• Operated within defined working practices, ensuring compliance with local project management policy, procedure, and methodology where this is in place.
• Gathered status reports of team members across their project and address issues as appropriate.
• Established reporting project Key Performance Indicators to the Senior Project Manager or Project Board through Highlight Reports and stage assessments.
• Managed project risks and produces an effective plan and risk assessment so that timescales and project costs are understood and underwritten by all by the parties.
• Ensured that formal review procedures are used.
• Managed risks associated with the deliverables of the project.
• Integrated financial data for multiple projects.
• Ensured that the impact on the Business Line Profit & Loss due to project activities within the scope of the project is clearly visible and that all contingency usage is signed-off by the appropriate governance authority e.g. Project Board
• Accountable for tracking the project costs and supporting Business Units in meeting payment milestones.
• Ensured that the milestone achievements are signed by the customer and relevant invoices are raised.
