Cyber Security Consultant – Defence & Security Sector

Location:Hybrid (Remote with occasional site visits)

Salary: Up to £90,000

Overview:We're looking for an experienced Cyber Security Architect to support secure system design and risk management within the defence and national security sector. This role involves working across multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems are secure, compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead security risk management activities across defence and security projects.
  • Design and implement proportionate security and cyber architectures.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation (., risk assessments, test plans).
  • Ensure compliance with MOD and government security standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevSecOps, and infrastructure teams.
  • Provide strategic input on security direction and project planning.
  • Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in complex systems.
  • Support the secure integration of emerging technologies.
  • Essential Experience
  • 4+ years in a cyber security or information assurance role.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies (., NIST, ISO 27005).
  • Experience developing security documentation and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Desirable Experience
  • Familiarity with MOD/HMG security policies (., JSP 440, 604, 892).
  • Experience working with classified government systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, and CI/CD in secure environments.
  • Understanding of secure system design and cloud technologies.
