Where Id work: Service Delivery Centre - Bradford

Work type:?Permanent. Working 37 hours per week, you will work as part of a 6-man team providing 24/7 technical and incident management support in the Service Delivery Centre, working 12-hour shifts on a similar basis to that of the 24/7 Asset Optimisers.

Where You Fit In

The Duty Operations Engineer provides expert advice and technical support to operational teams to resolve asset related problems and reduce customer and regulatory impacting failures. You will provide Central Incident Management on all reactive incidents on the Water Distribution Network 24/7, by providing technical analysis and support to front line staff and managers and analysing Network failure to fully understand its impact upon customers and compliance.

You will provide technical guidance and instruction to Field staff to ensure that impacts are minimised through Network reconfiguration, or the deployment of Continuous Supplies.

You will also carry out an engineering and hydraulic analysis of impact and a critical analysis of incident response to help build both tactical and process controls to mitigate the risk of future failure.

Some Of The Key Responsibilities Include The Following -

You will take personal responsibility for self and others with respect to health & Safety, risk management, and control of work to ensure compliance with Yorkshire Waters Health & Safety Policy & Procedures.

Challenge colleagues, Partners and Organisations where Health & Safety is compromised and ensure that Health and Safety is considered as the priority when managing Water Network incidents.

Take over the management of clean water related incidents relating to the loss of supply and discolouration, providing instruction and advice to minimise incident impact upon customers and operational performance.

React to emerging incidents and provide technical support and advice to both the Field Teams and the Control Room, developing alternative supply options and contingency plans.

Drive Incident resolution through the monitoring of Incident response against key milestones and escalation triggers contained in the Incident management process, directing, and organising Field activity in a timely manner to ensure optimal response.

Apply detailed hydraulic calculations and undertake hydraulic modelling.

Liaise with stakeholders within other departments involved in Source to Tap processes is vital to ensure that risk across the whole process is considered and mitigated as appropriate.

Identify supply interruption risks through analysis of operating conditions, options and system limitations, assess these risks by undertaking detailed hydraulic and risk analysis, potentially utilising hydraulic modelling tools including critical link analysis.

Where a Network Failure occurs, the impact upon Water Quality is minimised through the direction of the appropriate operational response, including the creation of Operational plans to further mitigate the ongoing risk to Water Quality through further contingency or mitigation activity.

The Planning of the deployment of Continuous Supplies techniques to minimise the impact of Network intervention on customers, both proactively and reactively.

Actively promote the use of quality management systems which hold information for site specific and water supply system risks and operational requirements.

Undertake investigations for asset failure including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and provision of accurate property impact.

Demonstrate a continuing commitment to ensuring the accurate recording of all asset failure risks identified by the team and ensure that these are accurately articulated with supporting technical documentation and risk scoring.

Provide engineering support and coaching to other colleagues in the team and the wider business.

What Skills & Qualifications You Will Need

You will be fully aware and trained in Health & Safety requirements which relate to the operation of the water network including working in the highway, confined spaces, lone working.

Full understanding of the regulatory and service targets in relation to Water Networks is essential, as is a dynamic understanding of performance and risk.

A knowledge of, and can apply detailed hydraulic calculations and undertake hydraulic modelling to determine the impact of network failure, and proposed mitigation activity.

An awareness and understanding of the Operation of all Assets on the water Network, including Water Treatment Works, Water Pumping Stations, Service Reservoirs, Trunk Mains and Distribution Mains.

A good understanding of the Water Quality issues that can be caused through incorrect operation of assets and asset condition.

Understanding the mechanisms which lead to bacteriological, iron, manganese, and discolouration related failures.

Proven track record data analysis and manipulation skills of interpreting / compiling and data analysis is essential.

Good IT skills as you will be using a range of IT systems in the role.

A detailed knowledge of the design and operation principles of potable water distribution network assets.

A proven track record of investigating and optimising distribution systems with efficient lowest overall cost solutions.

Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Ability to focus on specific activities whilst understanding the wider impact of service delivery to all customers.

Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships with colleagues and customers.

Be enthusiastic with the ability to demonstrate drive, dedication and ambition to deliver first class customer service skills.

Demonstrate ability to negotiate and influence at higher, strategic levels.

Demonstrate ability to work on your own initiative and self-manage.
