The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust is seeking Duty Officers to provide a 24/7 Operational Command response across their footprint. This role encompasses fleet management and resolving operational challenges while ensuring staff wellbeing. Ideal candidates will have strong leadership skills and the ability to handle complex situations effectively.
Following the successful introduction of the Duty Officer role, we are recruiting further posts across the North West at all Duty Officer bases, including rotating through EOCs.
Applications are invited from individuals with compassionate and inclusive leadership skills, vision, and drive to advance their careers. This is an opportunity to provide our 24/7 Operational Command Response.
The Duty Officer will assume 'on the day' responsibility for fleet and resource management within their area, handling issues during their rostered duty. Duty Officers will be fully trained to NARU Operational Commander level and provide a 24/7 Operational Command response across the trust's footprint.
Duty Officers play a key role in managing hospital delays as part of their operational duties, acting as a single point of contact for operational issues during their shift, and assisting EOC and local management teams in resolving issues.
Out of hours, they provide operational leadership within their areas, overseeing all operational staff on duty, including PTS. They also support EOC colleagues in resolving operational issues.
Postholders are responsible for staff health and wellbeing during their shift, responding to welfare needs, assisting crews, and conducting initial fact-finding investigations around on-shift issues. Qualified commanders, they provide first-line responses to complex and major incidents, offering 24/7 coverage throughout the trust.
Candidates will undergo an online examination after shortlisting. Successful candidates will then proceed to an assessment centre and professional discussion. Details of assessments will be shared later.
