Duty Nurse Manager
London: Princess Grace Hospital
Full time 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Sun)
Shift times: Flexibility to work long days, Nights & Weekends
Permanent Contract
Salary: Competitive (DOE) plus 9% shift allowance, +Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

We are recruiting a Duty Nurse Manager to join our nursing team at The Princess Grace Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC.

The Duty Nurse Manager team is an integral part of the hospital's operations, responsible for managing the challenges of in and out of hours service in an acute hospital setting.

This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, experience in decision making, risk management, problem solving, and good governance understanding.

The Duty Manager will work closely with the Matron & Chief Nursing Officer to support visible leadership at the Princess Grace Hospital.

The Duty Nurse Manager is responsible for the safe and effective running of the site 24/7, including coordinating patient flow, responding to major incidents, fire responsibilities, out-of-hours management, and providing senior support to all units.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide senior nursing support and clinical advice across the site and outpatient facilities.
  2. Act as the first point of contact for wards/departments during out-of-hours, liaising with senior managers on call.
  3. Act as hospital manager, ensuring the safe management of hospital systems and services.
  4. Manage patient flow, including unscheduled and scheduled admissions.
  5. Collaborate with Urgent Care Centre, Acute Assessment Units, and the Patient Flow Team.
  6. Lead emergency plans for fire, cardiac arrest, and major incidents.
  7. Coordinate with departmental heads during operational disruptions.
  8. Assess emergency admissions before they are admitted.
  9. Develop risk-sensitive solutions to operational issues.
  10. Be a visible role model to staff.
  11. Review patients with NEWS > 3 or increased NEWS scores.
  12. Communicate professionally with internal and external clients.
  13. Manage stressful situations effectively and work under pressure.
