Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate Maths and English Tutor to support students in the Durham area who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. The role involves one-to-one or small group sessions, with face-to-face teaching in community settings or at the student’s home.

You will develop personalised lesson plans, monitor attendance, and provide progress reports. The role offers a flexible ongoing arrangement, with pay up to £30 per hour depending on qualification and/or

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEND such as ADHD, SEMH or permanent exclusions (PRU).
• Right to work in the UK.
• DBS check (enhanced) or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Ability to reference the last two years of education/employment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Maths and English.
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans addressing learning gaps.
• Create a supportive, motivating learning environment to rebuild confidence.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.
