Job summary

Robert Hurst Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor based in London to lead commercial performance on ductwork and mechanical projects. You will manage contracts from tender through to final account, overseeing valuations, variations and subcontractor payments.

Applicants should have extensive ductwork QS experience, strong contract awareness and a proactive, commercially minded approach to drive project profitability within London-based schemes.

Qualifications

• Extensive Quantity Surveying experience within the ductwork sector.
• Strong contract and commercial awareness.
• Experience managing subcontract packages, variations and final accounts.
• Experience with valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Experience working with drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Commercially minded and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of ductwork and mechanical projects.
• Preparing and reviewing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Managing variations, change control and additional works.
• Reviewing subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Preparing cost forecasts and monitoring project expenditure.
• Reviewing contracts, specifications and drawings.
• Producing accurate cost estimates and pricing works where required.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Managing and maintaining good commercial relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assisting with tender submissions and reviewing tender returns.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets and commercial objectives.
• Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams to ensure commercial matters are identified and dealt with promptly.
• Preparing regular commercial reports for senior management.
• Taking projects through to successful commercial completion and final account settlement.
