Job Description:

My client designs and develops key components of flat panel digital televisions. The software is deployed in products destined for European and sometimes worldwide markets.

They are looking for a DTV Software Engineer to join the team and develop within their industry-fabled development team, based in Staines.

Responsibilities include:

1. Design diverse parts of a digital television system, ranging from user interface to driver level, using MS Word documents and UML2 tools. Good written English skills are essential.
2. Implement these designs in various embedded systems, primarily in C++.
3. Work from internal design specifications and international standards.
4. Ensure work packages meet requirements, pass quality standards, and are integrated with other system parts.
5. Report to the project manager for planning and budgeting.
6. Assist team members and identify training and recruitment needs.
7. Become a technical authority in Digital TV.

Skills and attributes:

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience in real-time and/or embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C++ for embedded multi-tasking systems.
• Team player with flexibility.
• Enthusiastic and eager to develop skills across diverse software environments.
• Experience in software design.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of DVB and/or ATSC digital television standards.
• Experience in Digital Television development.
• Design experience with UML.
• Knowledge of IPTV and related IP technology.
• Familiarity with modern software design processes and methodologies.
• Knowledge of interpreted languages like Java, Perl, Python, or JavaScript.
• Unix administration, programming, shell scripting.
• Experience with version control systems, build environments, and code quality tools.
