Job summary

Candl Recruitment Ltd is seeking a DT Technician in Tottenham for a long-term, full-time role. You will support the Design & Technology department, prepare materials and maintain workshop equipment to ensure safe, engaging lessons for students.

The ideal candidate has practical DT/ workshop experience, with knowledge of Resistant Materials and graphics, and a strong focus on health and safety. Immediate start is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support the Design & Technology department across subjects.
• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for lessons.
• Set up and maintain workshop equipment and machinery.
• Work with DT teachers to run practical lessons effectively.
• Create an organized, safe workshop environment for students.
• Prepare materials for student projects and coursework.
• Manage tools, equipment, materials and stock.
• Carry out basic maintenance and identify equipment needing repair.
• Support students during practical activities and ensure safety.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed.

DT Technician | Tottenham | Up to £160 Per Day

Location: Tottenham, North London

Pay: Up to £160 per day

Start: ASAP

Contract: Long-term, Full-time

Are you an experienced, all-rounded DT Technician looking for a long-term role where you can become a valued part of a school and make a genuine difference to students?

We are working with a large, diverse and inclusive secondary school in Tottenham that places a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for its students and helping them achieve their potential.

The school is looking for an experienced DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department on a long-term basis. This is more than simply preparing equipment. You will play an important role in ensuring students have access to safe, engaging and well-prepared practical lessons where they can develop their creativity, confidence and practical skills.

The Role

• Supporting across the Design & Technology department, including Resistant Materials and Graphics
• Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons
• Setting up and maintaining workshop equipment and machinery
• Working closely with DT teachers to ensure practical lessons run effectively
• Helping create an organised, engaging and safe workshop environment for students
• Preparing materials for student projects and coursework
• Managing tools, equipment, materials and stock
• Carrying out basic maintenance and identifying equipment requiring repair
• Supporting students appropriately during practical activities
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed across practical areas

About You

• Previous DT Technician, workshop or similar technical experience
• An all-rounded practical knowledge of Design & Technology
• Experience with Resistant Materials and Graphics
• Confidence using workshop tools, equipment and machinery
• A good understanding of workshop health and safety
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• A positive approach to working around young people
• Previous school experience is desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new DBS
