Job summary

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School is seeking a highly organised Design Technology Technician to support our practical subjects. You will prepare materials, resources and equipment for lessons, keep workshops safe and well stocked, and assist staff and students during practical activities.

The role requires NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, good literacy/numeracy, and a commitment to health and safety. Hours are 37 per week, term-time only, with DBS checks and pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience providing technical or workshop support.
  • Knowledge of specialist tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team and build relationships.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, resources and specialist equipment for lessons and maintain safe, well-organised workshops and teaching spaces.
  • Maintain machinery and tools, monitor stock levels and support health and safety compliance.
  • Assist students and staff during practical activities and ensure equipment is ready for lessons.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support delivery of practical subjects.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of a welcoming and well-equipped learning environment.

Job description

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School is a thriving and successful school of over 1,360 students. We are seeking to appoint a highly organised, enthusiastic and practical Design Technology Technician to support the delivery of our practical subjects.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will play a vital role in preparing materials, resources and specialist equipment for lessons, ensuring that workshops and teaching spaces are safe, organised and fully equipped. The successful candidate will help maintain machinery and tools, monitor stock levels, support health and safety compliance, and assist students and staff during practical activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with workshop or technical experience who enjoys working in an educational environment and is committed to supporting young people to achieve their full potential.

We are looking for someone who:
