Job description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a proactive, creative, and highly organised Design and Technology Technician to support our vibrant Design and Technology (D&T) Department. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the practical delivery of D&T subjects, including Product Design, Engineering, Textiles, and Food Technology, in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, maintain and manage materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons.
  • Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions.
  • Ensure that health and safety standards are met and maintained at all times.
  • Assist with the creation of displays and resources to enhance student learning.
  • Provide technical support for student projects, including CAD/CAM and workshop machinery.

The successful educator will:

  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade 4 (C) or above.
  • Have a genuine enthusiasm for design, art, and/or photography, supported by relevant qualifications or practical experience (such as an A-Level in Art or similar).
  • Understand the importance of safe working practices and is familiar with confidence in using specialist tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Be well-organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage resources, maintain equipment, and keep practical areas well-stocked and in good order.
  • Be confident using IT systems and communicates clearly, both in writing and verbally.
  • Show initiative and flexibility, able to support a variety of practical tasks and adapt to the changing needs of the department.
  • Be committed to promoting inclusion and diversity and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Be open to professional development and willing to undertake training such as first aid and health & safety.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
