Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves in Hackney is seeking a qualified DT Technician to support the Design & Technology department on a full-time, term-time-only contract with an immediate start. You will prepare materials and equipment and assist teachers during practical lessons.

You will ensure tools and machinery are maintained and used safely, while supporting health and safety procedures and providing resources to pupils to develop practical skills in DT.

Qualifications

• Recognised DT Technician or relevant technical qualification in DT or related field.
• Experience working with tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
• Health and safety qualification/training relating to tools and machinery.
• Strong knowledge of practical workshop procedures and equipment.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive, reliable and practical approach.
• Ability to work effectively with teaching staff and support pupils.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and equipment for lessons and maintain workshop areas.
• Assist teachers during practical lessons and ensure safety of pupils.

About the role:

As a DT Technician, you will support the smooth running of the Design & Technology department by preparing materials and equipment, maintaining workshop areas and assisting teachers during practical lessons.

You will ensure that tools, machinery and specialist equipment are maintained and used safely, while supporting the department with health and safety procedures and relevant checks. You will also help ensure pupils have access to the resources they need to develop their practical skills and succeed within DT.
