Design & Technology (DT) Technician - Immediate Start
Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Lewisham
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: Competitive - Dependent on Experience
DBS: Must be on the Update Service

A well-established and inclusive secondary school in Lewisham is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis starting immediately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain tools, equipment, and materials for use in DT lessons, including woodwork, metalwork, and food technology where applicable

  • Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions and demonstrations

  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed within the DT department

  • Maintain machinery and equipment to ensure safe operation

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed

  • Support departmental displays and assist during school events when required

Requirements:

  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive, flexible approach

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students

  • A keen interest in Design & Technology and a willingness to learn

  • A current DBS registered on the Update Service is essential

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience as a technician or in a school-based environment

  • Familiarity with tools, materials, and health and safety practices in a DT workshop
