A forward-thinking secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a reliable Design & Technology Technician for an immediate start. This full-time, long-term role involves supporting practical learning in woodwork, metalwork, graphics, and food technology. Ideal candidates should have strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and an interest in Design & Technology. A valid Enhanced DBS is required.

Design & Technology Technician - Immediate Start

Location: Secondary School, Lewisham

Start Date: Immediate | Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Salary: Competitive (Dependent on Experience)

DBS: Must be registered on the Update Service

A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join their department on a full-time, long-term basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support practical learning in subjects such as woodwork, metalwork, graphics, and food technology.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, tools, and materials for DT lessons
  • Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions and demonstrations
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed in workshops and classrooms
  • Carry out routine maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering resources
  • Contribute to departmental displays and provide support during school events when required
Requirements
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, flexible, and safety-conscious approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with staff and students
  • A genuine interest in Design & Technology and a willingness to learn
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a school-based role
  • Familiarity with workshop tools, materials, and safe working practices
