Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a DT Technician for daily supply and long-term roles across Lincolnshire, based in Scunthorpe.

The role focuses on supporting DT lessons, keeping equipment organized, and maintaining safe workshop environments for KS3 and KS4 students. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in Design Technology or related fields, with strong health and safety knowledge and the ability to work with a variety of tools and machinery.

Qualifications

• Relevant practical or technical experience in design technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, woodwork or metalwork.
• Good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures.
• Confident using a range of tools, equipment and machinery.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching staff with the preparation and delivery of practical DT lessons.
• Prepare, maintain and organise tools, equipment and materials for practical lessons.
• Keep workshops and classrooms clean, safe and well organised.
• Support students with safe and proper use of tools, machinery and equipment.
• Assist with demonstrations and practical activities across KS3 and KS4.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Manage stock levels of materials and equipment.
• Assist teachers with classroom resource preparation and projects.
• Report equipment or safety concerns to the appropriate staff member.

DT Technician - Scunthorpe

We're looking for passionate DT Technicians to work across a range of Secondary schools in Lincolnshire on a daily supply and long-term basis.

We work with fantastic schools local to you and are continuously recruiting for DT Technicians to join us. Whether you're seeking a full or part-time role, we have opportunities to suit you.

The role is particularly well suited to people with a background in Design Technology, Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, Woodwork, Metalwork or other practical and technical disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians and professionals looking to use their practical skills in an educational setting.

As a DT Technician on supply, you will;

• Supporting teaching staff with the preparation and delivery of practical DT lessons
• Preparing, maintaining and organising tools, equipment and materials for practical lessons
• Ensuring workshops, classrooms and practical areas are clean, safe and well organised
• Supporting students with the safe and appropriate use of tools, machinery and equipment
• Assisting with demonstrations and practical activities across KS3 and KS4
• Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment
• Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed at all times
• Managing and maintaining stock levels of materials, resources and equipment
• Supporting teachers with the preparation of classroom resources and practical projects
• Reporting any equipment, maintenance or health and safety concerns to the appropriate member of staff

To join us and be successful as a DT Technician, you will need to:

• Have relevant practical or technical experience, ideally within Design Technology, Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, Woodwork or Metalwork
• Have a good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures
• Be confident using a range of tools, equipment and machinery
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) - or willing to obtain one
• Professional reference checks
• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
• Legal right to work in the UK
