Design & Technology Technician - Secondary School - Bristol (Until Christmas)

Location: Bristol
Contract: Until Christmas 2025
Working Days: Monday-Thursday preferred (flexibility possible)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: School hours
Pay: Competitive, paid to scale

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Design & Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Bristol on a short-term basis until Christmas. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the DT department by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring that all tools and machinery are safe and ready for use.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in workshop safety and equipment management to contribute to a busy and creative school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organise equipment and materials for DT lessons
  • Maintain and safely store machinery, tools, and resources
  • Carry out routine safety checks and maintenance in line with H&S guidelines
  • Assist DT staff during practical lessons when required
  • Ensure a safe working environment for students and staff
  • Liaise with teaching staff to meet lesson requirements effectively
Key Requirements
  • Valid Health and Safety Training Standards in Design and Technology for:
  • Narrow Band Saw
  • Circular Saw
  • Overhand Planer
  • Secondary Core H&S
  • Previous experience in a DT department or workshop environment
  • Knowledge of safe operation, maintenance, and storage of DT equipment
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Good communication skills for working with staff and students
