Base Location: Reading

Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

We have an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware person to lead, manage and develop a Southern Regional System Planning and Investment team within our SSEN Distribution business. Your team will be at the forefront of handing Connections & Diversion customer enquiries. You'll provide technical expertise at meetings with larger commercial and industrial clients, and consult to resolve complaints and drive improvements..

You will

- Assess network performance, asset condition, network capacity, and make recommendations for improvements to make the net-zero challenge and future requirements of SSEN

- Represent SSEN as a technical expert at UK-wide industry forums and working parties, contributing to the development of new/revised Engineering Recommendations and Engineering Technical Reports.

- Allocate and manage technical assessments, network modelling, and the collection and interpretation of large volumes of complex network data, presenting this information in an easily digestible format for internal and external stakeholders, including regulators such as OFGEM.

- Take key accountability for managing and developing investment programmes to meet statutory requirements and ensure the network is fit for purpose

You have

You will bring extensive experience in Electrical Engineering to this role. A deep technical understanding of Distribution Networks and Standards, along with the ability to perform complex network modelling, is essential. You should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

- Proficiency in producing, reviewing, and assessing complex technical reports, and interpreting large volumes of data to present in a clear and digestible format to stakeholders.

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to take a project from concept through to delivery.

- Leadership skills to engage, develop, and manage the team in line with the SSE Leadership Blueprint and safety culture.

- Financial management and commercially acumen.

- Ability to conduct cost-benefit analyses for strategic investment cases.
