The Decontamination Services Department (DSD) provides sterile services to five hospitals within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The department adheres to the highest standards, including accreditation to Medical Device European Directive 93/42/EEC and ISO 13485:2016. It is located in a large, state-of-the-art facility on the Oxford Road Site.
As a DSD Technician, you will undertake decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments for operating theatres and departments across the Oxford Road site and external customers. You will ensure the service is efficient and compliant with departmental policies, procedures, and the Quality Management System.
No specific qualifications are required, but a background in sterile services is beneficial. We provide comprehensive induction and ongoing training. The role involves manual handling, walking, and standing activities. You should be able to follow procedures, communicate effectively, work conscientiously, and handle pressure and deadlines.
