Job Description

  • Analyse, issue and negotiate contractual and shipping payable and receivable demurrage/despatch claims to conclusion within time bar limitations
  • Close co-operation with all other departments, especially Trading and Legal to help give advice on demurrage terms and guidance to reduce the Company’s exposure at source with the contract terms
  • Closely communicating daily with external business partners such as brokers, charterers and owners
  • Accurately and thoroughly maintain the information within the trading systems and responsible for the prudent assessment of the matrix claims P&L
  • Assist to prepare financial quarterly matrix reports & desk meetings to ensure the Operators & Brokers are fully aware of their Claims portfolio and seek their commercial support where needed
  • Managed the claims portfolio ensuring claims are paid within the agreed timelines or escalated as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • +3 years Shipping and Demurrage experience on a dry bulk shipping company / prior experience with metal cargoes would be a benefit
  • Proficiency in the reading and understanding of dry and freight contract terms to support high level negotiation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organisation
  • The ability to analyse information and data at a very high level with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Be able to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Competency to make commercial decisions to maximise return to the business
  • Ability to multitask, excellent time management skills and strong commercial acumen
  • Wet cargo oil demurrage experience would be a benefit.
