Dry Bulk Pneumatic Tanker Driver - Class A CDL

Summary :

The Commercial Driver – Vacuum / Pneumatic Operator has dual responsibilities as a Class A driver and a Vacuum / Pneumatic Operator. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of tractor-trailers, box trucks, or semi-trucks, both interstate and intrastate, to various customer locations. At customer sites, the driver will connect, set-up, and disconnect hoses and equipment, manually attaching manifolds and hoses, and pneumatically conveying materials. The position requires adherence to FMCSA / DOT / ICC safety regulations and USADebusk safety protocols, building positive customer relationships through friendly service, and understanding customer operations to meet their needs.

Requirements / Experience :

  • Legal to work for any employer in the USA.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years (DOT interstate requirement).
  • At least 1 year of experience driving an 18-wheeler tractor/trailer.
  • No AUTO restrictions.
  • Proficiency with 13-speed, 10-speed, and automatic transmissions.
  • Must pass ADS road test.
  • Valid TWIC card required.
  • Tankerman and Hazmat endorsements required.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from all licensed states.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check, DOT medical exam, hair follicle, urine drug, and alcohol breath tests.
  • Must undergo DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Wear PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Positive attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexible to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks intrastate and interstate on local, OTR, and overnight routes per schedule.
  • Perform safety checks before and after trips, including vehicle inspections per DOT regulations, and follow all safety guidelines.
  • Report incidents, safety issues, and repairs as necessary.
  • Meet KPIs for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service.
  • Ensure products are safe, compliant with laws, and meet quality standards.
  • Drive and deliver merchandise, coupling and uncoupling equipment as needed, even in tight or urban areas.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance, report malfunctions.
  • Operate Electronic Log Devices (ELD) and maintain compliance records.
  • Ensure all documentation, registration, and inspection reports are current.
  • Participate in random drug testing.
  • Secure loads properly, conduct counts, review invoices, and complete paperwork accurately.
  • Handle damaged goods, customer returns, and perform damage control.
  • Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tractor and trailer.
  • Load/unload materials, handle hazardous substances following safety procedures and disposal laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands :

  • Lift, push, or move freight weighing 40-60 pounds, up to 100 pounds in some cases.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling at various heights.
