Fixed Term, Full Time

£31,931 to £36,423 per annum

Location: Basildon

Working Style:

Please note that this position is being offered as a Fixed Term Contract / Secondment until end of February 2026, with a possibility of extension.

Led by the Team Manager, you will work to create conditions for success within a new, dynamic multi-disciplinary team providing specialist support to families. The MDT team will be based within frontline social work teams, offering bespoke interventions in the community or family homes.

Role Description

Work with Social Workers to promote family involvement and improve outcomes for children.

Engage high-risk families with substance/alcohol misuse issues, providing advice, screening, and interventions to address their needs.

Conduct risk assessments, develop management and recovery plans, and contribute to assessments with impact and outcome analysis. Collaborate within the Multi Agency Team to support community treatment/support services.

Utilize interventions like motivational interviewing, ITEP, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and brief interventions in individual and group settings to promote engagement, self-esteem, well-being, self-responsibility, motivation, and parenting capacity.

Review ongoing care, liaise with partner agencies, and support engagement with appropriate services.

Accountabilities

  • Coordinate with other agencies involved in the client’s care, including health services, hospitals, and GPs.
  • Use evidence-based interventions and develop a recovery-focused model.
  • Ensure high-quality services that adhere to best practice standards.
  • Contribute to service performance, record and manage client data, and meet contractual and administrative requirements.
  • Work flexibly across sites and hours to maintain service levels.
  • Engage in personal development, training, supervision, and appraisal.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Strong experience in substance misuse services.
  • Experience working with high-risk families involved in Child Protection or Child in Need plans.
  • Proven outcomes supporting adults with substance misuse issues.
  • Experience as a catalyst for family change.
  • Relevant qualifications in substance misuse.
  • Knowledge of local services and issues.
  • Motivational interviewing skills.
  • Training in ITEP/BTEI or similar psychosocial interventions.
