Join us as a Site Shunter within our Transport Team, supporting a major customer.

WHERE YOU WILL BE BASED:

Magor Brewery, NP26 3WN

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

To provide site shunting activities across the Magor Brewery Site in a safe and efficient manner. Communicate effectively with the site management team to ensure trailers are moved to and from the correct locations promptly. Ensure all site health & safety rules are followed and support Yard Marshalls in policing visiting drivers.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The movement of trailers as requested.
  • Carry out visual checks to ensure trailers are roadworthy.
  • Place trailers in designated on-site areas (loaded & empty trailers).
  • Maintain the shunt vehicle, including daily checks.
  • Ensure visiting drivers (EVC & other hauliers) drop trailers in designated areas.
  • Ensure empty trailers have curtains pulled and secured.
  • VOR any non-roadworthy trailer and report to the appropriate department.
  • Follow the VOR procedure and ensure a VOR plate is attached.
  • Ensure the trailer cannot go on the road.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks on tugs and other mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor diesel and Ad-Blue levels in the on-site tank, reporting low levels to the appropriate department.
  • Monitor visiting drivers to ensure all site rules are being adhered to.

This list is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned by your manager to ensure the smooth operation of the role.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Shunting/C+E experience is desirable but training can be provided.
  • Vehicle/trailer checking, including VOR procedures.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Proven effectiveness as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, friendly and helpful nature.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
