The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a flexible bank driver to join the Facilities Transport Services team in Leeds. You will support patient care by transporting waste, staff, goods and other items across Trust sites and nationally.
A significant manual handling element is involved, with a service-focused approach essential. Applicants should have substantial professional driving experience, strong local knowledge of Leeds, and excellent communication skills.
In this role, you will be a key member of our Transport Team, delivering a friendly, prompt, and professional service on behalf of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will support our patients, staff, and services in a variety of important ways. This may include transporting urgent medical samples for testing, taking patients home following their hospital stay, assisting staff travel between hospital sites, or transporting waste to help maintain a safe and clean hospital environment. This is a varied and essential role that directly supports patient care and the smooth running of our hospitals.
Substantial professional driving experience, ideally in a fast-paced or service-led environment. Experience of working in a customer-focused role, delivering a high standard of service. The ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, using radio, telephone, and IT systems. A working knowledge and understanding of service users needs and requirements, with a compassionate and respectful approach. The ability to remain flexible and adaptable, responding effectively to changing demands that may impact patient care. Previous experience working within the NHS or healthcare setting (desirable). Facilities Transport Services are looking to recruit zero hours bank drivers to help deliver a friendly, prompt and professional service on behalf of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Principal duties may involve the transportation of waste, staff, goods and other various tasks around Trust sites and nationally.
Applicants must have good communication skills, a good geographical knowledge of Leeds and nationwide and must be able to work effectively in a service-focused environment. There is also a significant manual handling element and collection of bulk items attached to this post, plus other associated tasks, but training will be provided for these.
Please be aware the post will require the applicants to work, in a dynamic and fast-moving environment so a flexible working attitude is essential to the role.
