Summary and purpose of position: We are recruiting for a Regional Petroleum Specialist to join our team. This role will be predominantly based in the South with some national travel. The department is responsible for delivering and managing DCPC driver training, PDP, on-the-road assessments, and driver development plans, including the delivery of Wincanton Drivers' core induction. The role involves working with all Wincanton Petroleum contracts across the South to ensure training requirements are met and drivers are safe and compliant, utilizing data from Wincanton systems to deliver targeted training promptly.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with all petroleum contracts regionally to ensure compliance with legislation and customer procedures.
  • Deliver engaging DCPC and PDP training in line with quality standards.
  • Conduct timely driver inductions for new and temporary drivers.
  • Perform on-road driver assessments, including pre-employment, post-accident, and performance evaluations, following company policies.
  • Analyze data regularly to identify drivers needing additional support.
  • Provide expertise and advice on health & safety matters to assist in safety documentation.
  • Deliver practical and refresher training on SSoW and other safety topics.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing training materials with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Plan and facilitate classroom and practical training on new or existing equipment.
  • Guide and train managers and supervisors on safety procedures.
  • Monitor driver performance using telemetry systems.
  • Provide expertise on telematics systems fitted to vehicles.
  • Manage and update driver training records on Vantage Driver Passport.
  • Attend CPD courses and conduct personal research to stay current with industry and legal trends.
Typical Outputs
  • Ensure drivers across petroleum contracts are safe and compliant.
  • Efficiently deliver training requirements across all petroleum contracts.
Experience, Skills, and Attributes
  • LGV C+E license and ADR classes 2 & 3.
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training or higher (or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the UK downstream oil industry.
  • Experience in forecourt and bulk deliveries.
  • Knowledge of ACOP L133 and DSEAR regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop effective training materials and support learner needs.
  • Understanding of UK Goods Vehicle Operator License requirements.
  • Knowledge of EC Driver and Working Time legislation.
  • Familiarity with safety schemes like ADR, FORS, CLOCS, LLCS.
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance and roadworthiness standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Experience in Human Factors training is desirable.
  • Strong prioritization and delegation skills.
  • International Transport Manager CPC qualification is a plus.
