Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council’s Street Scene Team is recruiting an HGV Sweeper Driver to keep Aylesbury Vale clean and safe. The role covers front-line street cleansing with shift options from 06:00–14:30 or 07:00–15:30, and involves outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Training will be provided and you’ll work as a fixed worker from a designated location. We require at least 2 years of LGV driving experience, a Class C LGV license and a valid CPC.

• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Experience of mechanical sweeper driving desirable.
• Experience of operating vehicle mounted cranes.

Overview

Buckinghamshire Council’s Street Scene Team delivers street cleansing and grounds maintenance services across Aylesbury Vale and is currently recruiting for a HGV Sweeper Driver. This role is essential in delivering front-line services, ensuring local areas are clean and safe for residents and visitors to the area.

The annual salary for 39 hours per week is £32,122 - £33,631.

About The Role

You will be responsible for providing front-line Street Cleansing services. You will be reliable, have a ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to working safely.

Key Accountabilities

Street cleansing services are provided between the hours of 06.00 and 18.00 and some weekend and bank holiday work will be required. The shift pattern will be either 06.00 to 14.30 or 07.00-15.30.

Fixed

As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.

About You

• Minimum 2 years of LGV driving experience, LGV Class C License.
• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
• Experience of mechanical sweeper driving desirable.
• Experience of operating vehicle mounted cranes

Full training will be provided and you will be required to demonstrate Buckinghamshire Council values, representing the Council whilst working in public areas.

The work is outdoors all year round, and work will take place in all weather conditions. All personal protective equipment and clothing will be provided.
