Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Driver/Sweeper to join the Streetscene Team in Reading Town Centre. You will operate a range of vehicles and street cleansing equipment to keep pavements and roads clean and safe, carry out cleansing duties, maintain equipment and complete daily logs.

This full-time role starts early (5:30am) and may include weekends and bank holidays, with a comprehensive benefits package and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• ACat:B or C1 UK driving licence is essential.
• Shift work starting 5:30am; some weekends and bank holidays.
• Desirable experience with street cleansing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Driving the electric vehicle and pedestrian mechanical sweeping machines.
• Carrying out street cleansing duties using a range of equipment.
• Maintaining equipment in accordance with checklists.
• Ensure assigned areas are cleaned to a high standard.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Complete daily logs and reports as required.
• Supporting the wider street cleansing team as needed.
• Manually sweeping and clearing litter from public areas.
