Overview

The Driver II will operate commercial bobtail and box truck vehicles to pick-up and deliver parcels. AIT/Spur Drivers are responsible for safely and accurately delivering and picking up cargo, keeping an accurate driving log - ELD, and inspecting and maintaining the company trucks.

Responsibilities

• Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations.
• A valid CDL B is required to drive a truck 26,001 lbs. or greater.
• Focus on safety and compliance including the real-time reporting of any accidents or incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions, and following all applicable traffic laws.
• Handle general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip, and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs.
• Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading.
• Maintain driver hours of service using electronic logs and ensure rest periods according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintain compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations.
• Provide timely communication with supervisor/manager regarding the status of daily route; including when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other breaks, and prior to clocking out.
• Ensure timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies. Ensure time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit.
• May load and unload truck when not driving the truck.
• May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck.
• Destinations may be either Short Haul or Long Haul.
• Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies.
• Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.

• 3+ years Required.

Skills and Abilities

• Reading and writing English, knowledge of airport codes destinations and basic geography knowledge (Medium proficiency).
• Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (Medium proficiency).
• Strong organizational and time management skills (Medium proficiency).
• Participates in safety policies, activities, and implementations (Medium proficiency).
• Maintain a current Medical Card (High proficiency).
• Have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) (High proficiency).
• Must be a TSA-certified truck driver and obtain a STA number upon employment (High proficiency).
• Must be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and road test (High proficiency).
• No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years (High proficiency).
• No conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs violation within the past seven (7) years (High proficiency).
• No positive drug or alcohol results in last 7 years reported to Clearinghouse (High proficiency).
• General Computer Skills (Medium proficiency).

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Endorsements subject to business needs. If operating over 26,001 pounds, must possess Class B driver’s license. Upon Hire Required.
• No more than three (3) moving violations in the past 36 months (or combination of two (2) moving violations previous 12 months. Moving violations include seatbelt and cell phone violations. within 1 Year Required.
