Job description

Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £12.96 - £13.78

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Thursday, 07:45-16:15
To start 26th May 2025.

The Driver/Handyman role plays a crucial part in the delivery of our service, which supports families experiencing adversity with children during the critical first 1001 days of life across East Lothian. The post holder will ensure compliance with professional standards and adhere to Council policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include transporting families to and from the centre and contributing to the setup, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of the physical environment for a newly designed, innovative service focused on early intervention during this formative period of a child's development.

Job Details

To transport vulnerable children and children with severe and complex needs, via a 17 seater passenger carrying vehicle, from home to nursery and to carry out general DIY and gardening duties.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Good standard of general education.

Driving Licence
A full current PCV Driving Licence (Category D1 or Category D) by test, is essential to carry out the duties of this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
