Driver Hire Lancaster is recruiting for a Driver / Goods In & Out Operative in Lancaster. The role involves delivering to customers, collecting from suppliers, and supporting goods in and out across the operation.

The position offers a 38-hour week with an early finish every Friday and a 12-week temp-to-perm pathway. A full UK driving licence and forklift skills are preferred; health and safety and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

Driver / Goods Operative

Driver Hire Lancaster is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading engineering business based in Lancaster, for a Driver / Goods In & Out Operative. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company that supplies specialist engineering solutions to the renewable energy and offshore sectors, with the potential to secure a permanent position after a successful 12-week temporary period.

The Role

Working closely with the Goods In Team and wider operational departments, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient movement of materials and products throughout the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering products to customers and collecting goods from suppliers.
• Driving a long-wheelbase company van.
• Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting any defects.
• Ensuring compliance with UK driving regulations and company procedures.
• Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Picking, packing and preparing customer orders for dispatch.
• Receiving and checking incoming goods and materials.
• Stock movement
• Stock/Inventory counts
• Operating forklift trucks
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across warehouse and workshop areas.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A full UK driving licence.
• Experience driving a long-wheelbase van.
• A valid counterbalance forklift truck licence and practical operating experience.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Good numeracy and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience within a warehouse, logistics, engineering or manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.
