Job summary

GAP Group Ltd. is seeking a hands-on technician to join our Nottingham Plant & Tools team. You’ll be the face of GAP on customer sites, delivering and collecting equipment safely, and using your mechanical skills to service, maintain and repair our fleet so it’s ready for hire.

You’ll support on-site tasks, carry out workshop inspections, and ensure equipment is prepared for use, contributing to smooth operations across the depot and customer sites.

Qualifications

• Mechanical qualification, apprenticeship or time-served experience.
• Experience maintaining, servicing, or repairing plant equipment, tools, vehicles, or related machinery.
• A valid UK driving licence.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills; customer service focus.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
• Experience in plant hire, construction, or equipment rental is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Delivering and collecting plant and equipment safely and professionally, ensuring paperwork is completed accurately
• Loading, unloading, and securing equipment on GAP vehicles in line with safety procedures
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and ensuring roadworthiness, compliance and presentation
• Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, and repairing equipment in depot and on customer sites
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise equipment downtime
• Completing service records, inspection reports, test certificates, and related documentation accurately

About the role

The Role

Are you someone who enjoys being hands‑on, solving problems, and delivering excellent customer service?

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll be the face of GAP on customer sites, responsible for delivering and collecting equipment safely and efficiently while also using your mechanical skills to service, maintain, and repair our fleet. Whether you're supporting customers on‑site, carrying out inspections in the workshop, or ensuring equipment is ready for hire, you'll play a vital role in keeping our operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Delivering and collecting plant and equipment safely and professionally, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately

About You

What You’ll Bring
