Job summary

GAP Group Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Plant Mechanic to service, maintain, and repair a fleet of diggers, dumpers and tools. You will work both in the depot and occasionally at customer sites to ensure equipment is safe and ready for hire.

Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical experience, diesel engine know-how, and a proactive, customer-focused approach. The role offers clear career progression within GAP's growing Plant & Tool division.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in a mechanical role; plant hire industry experience welcomed with full training.
• Experience with diesel engines is highly beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative team spirit.
• Full, valid driving licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of plant and tool equipment in GAP fleet.
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Updating service records accurately and ensuring safety standards compliance.
• Occasionally attending customer sites to carry out repairs and maintenance.
• Supporting the depot team to ensure equipment availability and customer satisfaction.

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Plant Mechanic to join our high-performing Plant & Tool division. If you're passionate about machinery, thrive on solving problems, and want to be part of a business that's growing fast—this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

As a Plant Mechanic, you'll play a key role in keeping our fleet of diggers, dumpers, and hand tools hire-ready. You'll carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs—both in the depot and occasionally on customer sites—ensuring our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready to go when our customers need it.

This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role offering real career progression in a company that invests in its people.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of plant and tool equipment within the GAP fleet
