The Vacancy
We are currently seeking a driver to work in Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas to transport passengers between their homes and appropriate destination eg, Community Hubs and other Venues.
The hours worked will be Monday to Friday to accommodate transport from home to Community Hubs in the mornings and to transport from Community Hubs to home in the afternoons.
During the day, the role includessupportingadults with learning disabilities.You will be able to build a rapport with these individuals and support them to live varied and fulfilled lives through accessing activities like swimming, cooking, gardening, rebound therapy and visits to parks and gardens. You will also carry out duties supporting people with personal care, including toileting where the people need assistance to ensure their dignity is maintained.
This is a very rewarding position for the right person. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the passengers’ needs and abilities. They will also be expected to communicate with empathy.
Experience of driving minibuses would be desirable but is not essential as the successful candidate will undertake training; Minibus Driving Training.
As part of the selection process candidates must take a driving assessment. Candidates must present a D1 driver licence on the day of assessment or the assessment cannot proceed.
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the service. Hours may vary due to the different routes, numbers of passengers on the bus and traffic conditions.
The successful candidate will undertake necessary training required for the post. To work as a team is expected in this role.
