Job summary

Rentokil Initial is hiring an Initial Medical Driver to join our Mitcham team. The role covers visiting customer sites to collect and dispose of hazardous waste, with a base salary of £26,720 and potential OTE of £28,720. You’ll drive a company vehicle, receive a fuel card, and enjoy uniform, RI Rewards, and a pension plan.

This full-time position offers a 40-hour week with overtime potential and completion of comprehensive training to support customer needs.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence held for more than two years with no more than six penalty points.
• Comfortable working in a very manual role with loading/unloading.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Flexible with working patterns to support business needs.
• DBS check may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites to service hazardous waste facilities (e.g., sharp bins, poisons, dental waste).
• Maintain vehicle safety and follow RI Drive Smart guidelines.
• Provide exceptional customer service and uphold a professional image.
• Manual handling of units and bins as part of the role.
• Possibility of overtime and earning bonuses through commissions.

The Driver Role

As a driver, you will travel to and from our customers to collect and dispose of their hazardous waste items. Key responsibilities include:

• Visiting a number of different customer sites servicing their hazardous waste facilities such as sharp bins, poisons, dental waste and other types of waste - don’t worry, we have a world-class accident rate!

• Ensuring that your vehicle is safe at all times and that you take care on the road and follow our RI Drive Smart guidance.

• Providing exceptional customer service and upholding a professional image at all times.

• Full UK driving licence held for more than two years, with no more than six penalty points.

• You will need to be comfortable working in a very manual role as you will be loading and unloading units and bins.

• An ADR certificate would be great but this is not essential.

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Flexibility with working patterns to support business needs.

• Ability to use own initiative and have a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

• You may be required to pass a DBS check depending on the role you have applied for.
